Sookie's Story

SOOKIE — Back and Better Than Ever (Well... Almost!)
Hi friends! It’s me, Sookie, and guess what? I’m BACK with my Freedom Family! I know, I know — you probably thought I was living my best life (if you want to call it that he didn’t even have a blanket for me it was an effen towel) after my February adoption. But sometimes life doesn’t go the way we plan, and I came back a little different. My rescue family asked to send me with some of my items, and it was literally the towel...
When I returned, I was 8 pounds lighter, itchy all over, missing some fur, and feeling a little nervous and unsure of myself. My confidence had taken a vacation, and my skin was throwing a full-blown protest. But the good news? I’m in the right hands again, and my Freedom Squad is helping me heal — inside and out! Seriously this foster mom has the biggest smile with me every minute of the day and wipes me down daily, wrinkles, paws, ears and then I get paid in treats!!! Like GIRL that feels good, shouldn’t I be paying you!
About Me (The Good Stuff)
Let’s start with the important things: I’m an absolute love bug. If I had my way, you’d never stop giving me kisses and cuddles. Seriously, I could cuddle for sport and won the gold medal at the Olympics. I’m also your typical ball-obsessed Frenchie — if it bounces, rolls, or squeaks, it’s mine! I’ll chase it, thrash it, and proudly show it off like I just won a championship.
I’m crate trained like a pro — but fair warning, I require one small payment before entering: a treat. (haha paid again) You’re basically paying me for my cuteness, and I think that’s a fair deal. (Honestly, I should have my own OF page for dogs.)
At night, I’m happy to sleep in my crate or snuggle up right next to you in bed — your choice. I love food (like, love love it), so a slow feeder bowl is my best friend. I’ve also been known to pull a little “heist” and sneak bites from other bowls if you’re not watching. Oops.
Social Life
I get along wonderfully with other dogs, even the bossy ones. I’ve adjusted beautifully to my foster home — and when my foster mom went on a trip, I stayed with a sitter for three days and did amazing! I’m still rebuilding my confidence, but every day I’m feeling a little more like the old Sookie again. I went to this Halloween event, and I was a legit smoke show, so I went to my area and just sat in the middle while all the other rescues came around sniffing me and I didn’t care one bit I was eating it up!
Work in Progress
Okay, real talk: potty training is still a thing. I do go to the back door to signal when I need to potty, but sometimes I forget and start sniffing around the floor. Basically, I’m inpatient and don’t want to hold it. So, when I say I have to go that means I HAVE TO GO. My foster mom says that’s my “take me out NOW” cue. I’ve had a few accidents, but I’m working on it — promise!
My Skin & Health
When I came back, my allergies were out of control. I’m currently on a special limited-ingredient diet, antibiotics for my ears and paws, a probiotic supplement, and Duoxo S3 for my hot spots. My ears need regular cleaning, and my wrinkles get wiped down daily (I call it my spa treatment). My foster mom says I’m healing beautifully and looking more fabulous every day. We are trying to avoid allergy meds because they are toxic but if it is a must then we will!
What I’m Looking For
I just want a home that will love me for the long haul — through the itchy days, the cuddly nights, and the ball-chasing chaos in between. I’m starting over, and I know this time it’s going to be forever.
So, if you’re looking for a loyal snuggle bug with a heart of gold (and a personality that belongs on reality TV), come meet me. I promise I’ll make you laugh, fill your heart, and maybe steal your snacks. Apply for me at freedomfrenchierescue.org, I am located in Tempe, AZ and have been spay vaccinated and microchipped from last time. Also my adoption donation fee is $1050.00.
