Sookie's Story

Meet Sookie – Your Future Snuggle Olympian 🐾

Dogs: No, thank you
Cats: No, thank you
Kids: Unknown

This gorgeous 3-year-old sweetheart came into our care after deciding that the whole “staying home” thing just wasn’t her vibe. Sookie is what we like to call an athletic overachiever — if you’ve got a fence, she’ll see it as her personal jungle gym. Boredom? Not in her world. She’s part dog, part gymnast, and 100% heart.

But don’t let her athletic side fool you — Sookie is a full-on cuddle monster. She leans in for affection like it’s her life’s mission, then slowly tips over like a sleepy little tree, melting right into your arms. She thrives on love, touch, and being close to her person — your shadow in the best possible way.

Sookie is looking to be the one and only queen of her castle. She’s made it very clear: no cats or small animals, please (they’re just a bit too fun to chase!).

She has been vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. Once her current heat cycle is complete, she will be spayed and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $350.

Think Sookie might be your perfect match? New Westminster Animal Shelter's Adoption Policy
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN AN ANIMAL, please submit an application form. This is the FIRST step in the adoption process. Please do NOT email us just to express interest. https://www.newwestcity.ca/services/animal-services/animal-shelter Our animals have unique personalities and needs. Our goal is to find the most suitable home for them and the most suitable pet for you. We make every effort to place animals in “forever” homes so they don’t find themselves back in a shelter. They’ve already lost their home once, and we don’t want them to go through that again. All applications are reviewed by two shelter staff members. We also conduct a phone interview, at which time we will address any questions or concerns you may have. Typically, we are able to inform applicants within 72 hours. If your application has been approved, we will then schedule a time for you to come pick up your new family member!
