Sookie's Story

Meet Sookie – Your Future Snuggle Olympian

Dogs: No thank you
Kids: unknown
Cats: No thank you

This gorgeous 2-year-old sweetheart landed in our care after deciding that the whole “staying home” thing just wasn’t her vibe. Sookie is what we like to call an athletic overachiever — if you’ve got a fence, she will treat it like her own personal jungle gym. Boredom? Not on her watch. She’s part dog, part gymnast, and all heart.

But don’t let her athleticism fool you — Sookie is an absolute cuddle monster. she’ll lean in for love like her life depends on it... and then slowly tip over like a sleepy little tree, completely melting into your arms. She lives for touch, affection, and being your shadow.

We think Sookie could potentially live with a well-matched doggy sibling, but she’s made it very clear: no cats or small animals, please. (She says they’re way too fun to chase.)

Sookie has been vaccinated, dewormed, and deflead. She will be spayed and microchipped once her current heat cycle is finished. Her adoption fee is $350.

If you think your home might be the perfect landing pad for this bouncy cuddlebug, send us an email at shelter@newwestcity or give us a call 604-519-2008. New Westminster Animal Shelter's Adoption Policy
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN AN ANIMAL, please submit an application form. This is the FIRST step in the adoption process. Please do NOT email us just to express interest. https://www.newwestcity.ca/services/animal-services/animal-shelter Our animals have unique personalities and needs. Our goal is to find the most suitable home for them and the most suitable pet for you. We make every effort to place animals in “forever” homes so they don’t find themselves back in a shelter. They’ve already lost their home once, and we don’t want them to go through that again. All applications are reviewed by two shelter staff members. We also conduct a phone interview, at which time we will address any questions or concerns you may have. Typically, we are able to inform applicants within 72 hours. If your application has been approved, we will then schedule a time for you to come pick up your new family member!
