Solace 's Story
Solace. 🤍
A gentle hound learning how to feel safe.

About a month ago, we introduced you to three young hounds with heavy stories. Today, we want to focus on Solace — and the quiet, beautiful progress he’s been making.

Solace is still a shy, sensitive boy. He’s not the kind of dog who rushes up for attention or jumps into new situations without hesitation. But what we’ve learned over the past several weeks is this:
✨ Once Solace feels safe… he melts.

He’s discovered that:
Sitting quietly with a trusted person is one of his favorite things
Laps are for naps
Belly rubs are pretty wonderful
Gentle voices and patience go a long way
Staff have described him as a true love bug once he settles in.

🌿 What Solace is doing well with now:
Walking nicely on a harness
Exploring new environments like hiking trails and open fields
Riding calmly in the car
Meeting new people by sniffing first and moving at his pace
Enjoying playgroup with calm, respectful dogs
Clicker training and leash work
Relaxing enough to nap peacefully with his people

🐾 What Solace still needs:
A calm, patient home
People who understand that trust takes time
Slow introductions to new people (especially men)
A home that will let him set the pace and respect his boundaries
Solace may be unsure when hands reach into his space too quickly. He might take treats and not eat them right away. He might need a moment to step back, observe, and decide he’s okay. That’s him communicating — and when listened to, he blossoms.

💙 Solace is not broken.
He’s thoughtful. Sensitive. Learning.
And every day, he’s becoming a little braver.
If you’re someone who believes the most meaningful bonds are built slowly…
If you have the patience to let a dog learn that the world is kind…
If you want to be the person Solace chooses and trusts…
He’s ready to meet you.

📩 Stop in during business hours or submit an application at www.mcwvanimalshelter.com to meet Solace

Quiet homes, understanding hearts, and kind hands — he’s waiting. 🐾🤍

Enjoying playgroup with calm, respectful
