Sol's Story

Hi there! My name is Sol, and I'm a five-year-old spayed Lab mix weighing around 65 pounds. I've been through quite a journey—from the streets of Mexico to proudly beating TVT—and now I'm ready to find my furever home! You can also check me out on Instagram at @maybe_its_carlos.

Age: 5

Gender: Female

Breed: Lab mix

Weight: 65 lbs

Personality: I'm a big-hearted sweetheart who loves attention. Most of the time, I'm pretty chill and happy to snooze the day away, but I do enjoy a couple of short or medium-length walks each day. I've got a laid-back personality with just the right dash of goofiness to keep things fun.

Education: I'm mostly potty-trained, but I do have a bit of incontinence. Using waterproof blankets on furniture or carpets and keeping me clean will help a lot. I walk nicely on a leash, although I can be a little reactive when I see other dogs. I also have a bit of separation anxiety, but it's pretty mild.

Favorite Activities: Some of my favorite pastimes include soaking up the sun, going for strolls, getting lots of pets, and (of course) enjoying yummy treats! I'm also a great car companion—I usually just curl up and nap the whole ride.

Looking for: I'd do best in a calm, mellow home where we can go on walks together and maybe even visit a lake or beach – I love being near water! I haven't spent much time around kids yet, but I think I'd be great with older ones. Dog siblings are a bonus, but I'm also totally fine being your one-and-only. I'd love it if someone was home most of the day since I'm such a social girl, but I can handle some alone time too (perfect for a good nap!). Because of my joints, a home without stairs would be ideal.

Special needs: Sol needs regular ear cleanings and monitoring to help prevent infections and takes baths every three or four weeks to keep her skin healthy.

Adoption Fee: $ 200

The Animal Pad's Adoption Policy
We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane. Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational. All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times. All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise. Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000. Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc. Adoption Application: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/
