Meet Socrates

Born in August 2018, Socrates is a male German Shepherd. Socrates lives with dogs of all sizes, and while he loves playing with the other big dogs, he does well avoiding the cranky chihuahuas in the home. Socrates also lives with 3 cats, although he does enjoy a good game of chase, he is pretty gentle with the cats. Socrates loves going for daily walks and walks well on a leash. Although he is a typical, rambunctious puppy, he is also an excellent cuddle bug at the end of a long day. Socrates doesn’t currently live with children but does well when they come to visit. He would do best in a home with older children, as he sometimes forgets his size. Socrates currently weighs about 55 pounds after a rough start to his life. Socrates and his sister, Xanthippe, were denied food and kept in a small pen until they were rescued at 4 months of age. This led to them having Carpal Laxity Syndrome as puppies. Through good nutrition and exercise, his legs have straightened out. He is quickly gaining weight but will likely stay on the smaller side at about 65-75 lbs full grown. Socrates needs to stay slim as he is already showing signs of hip dysplasia. With continued exercise, a balanced diet, and joint supplements, Soc will be able to live a long, happy life. Socrates currently sleeps in a crate at night and while his foster family is at work.

Like all Mikey's Chance dogs, this dog will come to you from a foster home that has provided loving one-on-one attention, socialization and some basic training, as well as quality food and exercise.
