Snuggles R's Story

Meet Snuggles R ACCT-A-237463!

Her foster has had great things to say about her so far;

Happiest pup to get a bully stick: https://youtube.com/shorts/UcC-gOgL1D4?feature=share

3/10: She is doing good. She has definitely gotten very comfortable. She does well with people however I would say she needs to be reassessed with other dogs. I think that her being the only dog in the house now gave a little bit of an alpha attitude. She did well with him (foster's previous dog that recently passed) but now she's the king of the castle so i'm not sure how she would be with other dogs especially if they are smaller.

1/14: Snuggles is a super cute girl. She is very affectionate and lives up to her name. She walks well on a leash, follows basic commands, and takes treats nicely. She likes rides in the car and is very attentive to noise outside however she is not a big barker. She is house trained and will go in the crate but would rather relax on the couch when alone. She would do best with larger dogs or being alone. Not sure how she is with other animals. She really is a sweet pup that wants a human to give her neck rubs and be a couch potato companion with.

1/13: First she is soooo cute n loving and gentle. She was neutered yesterday and doing well.

Foster note through Petcademy 12/18: She's doing well. She is acting like she's been a part of the family all along

Videos and Notes from the shelter:

Videos:

Snuggles with Snuggles: https://youtu.be/YFzwoz82fJI

Meet Snuggles: https://youtu.be/wFJmIJaUQ8Q

Michaela and Snuggle R
https://youtu.be/XRE4EHoecx8?si=cGwfnxj6b-AEvjrb

https://youtu.be/HSovzG7QUsM?si=98yJ72yw2uD4QezX

Behavior:
Per Volunteer 11/26/25: When I approached her kennel, she was giving me appeasement tail wags with lip licking and bowing her head. I dropped treats and easily leashed her with a big loop. When we walked past dogs through the fence that were barking at her she had no response. Treat motivated and takes them very gently. Loose body language when around me, she didn't solicit any pets or attention at first. Then got super affectionate and cuddly. Such a sweet lady! Allowed handling all over and open to handling from new volunteers.

On 11/25 staff noted: "Snuggles was at the front with soft eyes and easy to leash. I brought her outside but she had a tucked tail and a lowered body. I brought her into the volunteer office and she gave me some low wags. I crouched myself down and got some very sweet soft eyes. She sat herself near me and asked for some treats (sniffing in the air when I reached for my pouch). I offered her some treats and gave her some pets. she solicited for pets and let me rub on her head, belly and side. when returning was trying to run under the kennel as Olive was barking at her."

On 11/25 staff noted: "Keeping exp blue but removing rescue only due to improvement in behavior. removing general behavior waiver."

On 11/23 staff noted: "Took out this morning since she has 2 orange clips. She was in the back of her crate, avoidant of eyes contact and ears to the side. Tossed a few treats and she ate them. I was able to go half way into the crate to leash her up. Once the leash was on she came out and pulled hard through the kennel with tail down. Outside she pulled less, went to the bathroom immediately. She did a lot of sniffing on the walk and took a treat gently. Saw dogs at a distance and just watched them walking around."

On 11/20 Behavior evaluation:
"Kennel Presentation: laying at the back of the crate, wide eyes, averted gaze, lip licks, head low. Ate cheese, came forward after a minute and tolerant of looping.

Leash Skills: darting on leash with tucked tail. Hunched body. Fearful.

Sociability:
Aloof, peed multiple times. Big shake off as we walked, sniffing, tail tucked or low, ears pasted back. Ate offered cheese gently from my hand.

Sat at a bench and she came over with ears back, soft eyes. Tucked tail, chin rest on my knee. Pet her on her chin and chest, eyes darting and scanning the fence line.

Play: did not do

Dog Interaction: n/a

Return to Kennel: pulled towards it once she saw it. Easy to remove the leash with my hand.

Color Level: exp blue

Recommendations and considerations: give her time, bond with food"

On 11/19 Behavior evaluation:

"Kennel Presentation: Snuggles was in the back corner of her crate with wide scared eyes and a hunched over body. I tried calling her forward but she was frozen in place. i tossed a lasso and was able to secure her. once secured she needed some time to come out

Leash Skills: pulls moderately towards all exits, exit searching, fearful on leash, lowered head and body, tucked tail

Sociability: In the room Snuggles was very nervous, lowered body and head, tucked tail, wide eyes and searching for a place to hide. she kept pushing herself in corners so i crouched down each time offering food. she ate treats very gently out my hand. i even asked her to sit which she did. i tried petting her with the back of my leash on her rear and she sat herself down near the door. i disengaged her with treats and slowly touched the bottom of her chin but she moved herself away quickly. she is not comfortable with handling at this time.

Play: did not attempt

Dog Interaction: n/a

Return to Kennel: was pulling towards all the doors and exits, once i directed her to the crate, ran inside and curled into the back corner

Color Level: exp blue"

On 11/17 APO noted: "Very sweet and wiggly, easily leashed her and she was trying to give me kisses the whole time. Pulls on leash but is easily redirected. A little tough getting her into the kennel as she pushed hard to get back out, but never stiffened up or reacted. Allowed all handling with loose and wiggly body."

On 11/17 staff noted: "Per follow up conversation with APO, removed Rabies Observation, she was not the one who bit she tried to get the other dog off the victim."

On 11/17 APO noted: "Owner is surrendering his 2 dogs after one of them bit his wife who is currently getting treated at the hospital. APO arrived and both dogs were crated separately in living room of location. Leashed and removed 1 male and 1 female medium pitty mixes from crates."
