Snoopy's Story
Meet Snoopy! The little guy with BIG personality and HUGE heart!

Male / Lab Mix / 10lbs / 8 weeks old / UTD on shots / Good with Dogs and Older Children

Background

Snoopy is an 8-week-old Lab mix with a larger-than-life personality! Snoopy came into rescue after being removed from a neglect and abuse situation in Ontario. He stayed with his mom until about five weeks old and with his littermates until around seven weeks, and despite his difficult start, this little guy is already showing us just how confident, curious, and resilient he is.

Since arriving in foster care, Snoopy has really come out of his shell. He's becoming more comfortable every day, sleeping longer stretches at night, enjoying his training sessions, and showing everyone what a smart little guy he is.

Personality

Snoopy is confident, brave, curious, and incredibly smart. He's not easily intimidated by new people, environments, or other dogs and loves discovering new things. He's also a great listener and responds beautifully to positive reinforcement and redirection.
He's happiest when he's using his brain, whether that's working for treats, exploring his snuffle mat, or learning something new. He also loves wrestling with his foster sister before inevitably crashing for a well-earned nap.
And Snoopy has some serious comedic talent. He loves to sleep on his back, snores like a tiny piglet, and when he gets running really fast, his whole body sometimes goes sideways while his ears flap in the breeze!

Ideal Home

Snoopy is looking for an experienced, committed family who understands the work and rewards of raising a puppy. He's going to need lots of attention, supervision, structure, socialization, and positive training as he grows.
A fenced yard would be a wonderful bonus but isn't essential. He can thrive without one as long as his family is prepared to take him outside several times a day for potty breaks, sniffing, exploration, and exercise.
Because Snoopy is currently very mouthy and teething, we don't recommend a home with young children. His sharp puppy teeth are still learning where they belong! Older children who understand puppy boundaries could potentially be a good fit.
Another well-balanced, socially appropriate dog could also be a wonderful companion and help Snoopy learn appropriate doggy manners, although play will need to be supervised while he learns when enough is enough.

Training & Activity

Snoopy is already learning sit and is working on down, and he's an eager student when treats are involved. His house training is going very well, and he's consistently going outside when given regular opportunities.
He's also doing wonderfully with his crate. He may grumble a little when first settling in, but once his needs are met, he settles and self-soothes well. He's learning that being alone is okay and will need his family to continue building that independence gradually.
As a young puppy, Snoopy has short bursts of energy followed by lots of sleep. He currently needs approximately 18 hours of sleep a day, with a combination of short outings, play, training, enrichment, and plenty of naps.
His favourite activities include tug, chase, sniffing games, training, puzzle toys, and chewing appropriate puppy-safe treats. As he grows, he'll be ready for longer walks and all kinds of adventures!

Summary

Despite a difficult start, this resilient little guy is already thriving. He's smart, confident, affectionate, curious, and eager to learn. Snoopy will absolutely keep his new family on their toes, but for someone ready to embrace the joys and challenges of puppyhood, he's going to be an incredibly rewarding companion. With patience, structure, training, and lots of love, Snoopy is ready to write a very happy next chapter with you!

All applicants must be residents of Toronto or the GTA to apply.

Apply here to Adopt
http://seapawsrescue.org/adoptionApplication.html?
