Smokey's Story

Our longest-stay resident, Smokey, along with many of our canine residents, got a foster break this weekend during the snow and ice storm-and he is absolutely thriving. In a home setting, he's doing amazing: nearly housebroken (only one accident the first day), crates easily, sleeps through the night, and is eager to please. He's super smart and very trainable-one firm "no" is all it takes. He still loves to play like a puppy with toys and rope, then happily settles in for lap time and cuddles. He rides well in the car, sits quickly for treats, and bonds deeply with his people, always watching you to figure out how to make you happy. He's about 4 years old, around 60 lbs, and truly no trouble at all. After thinking "oh no" about fostering the shelter's longest resident, his foster says she couldn't have been more wrong-he's an absolute gem.<br/>Cat-free home, meet and greets with other pups is a must. He also is severely allergic to chicken
