Smokey's Story

Meet Smokey — the senior sweetheart who refuses to act his age. At 10.5 years old, he still has pep in his step, a love for toys, and a joyful appreciation for every little moment.

He knows sit, paw, and down, and takes treats with perfect gentleness. His overnight foster reports he’s potty trained and loves his crate, making him an easy house guest.

Smokey adores walks, belly rubs, tug-of-war, and proudly carrying a stuffy like it’s his badge of honor. After playtime, he’s an expert cuddler who melts into you with full-body affection. He’s also calm in the car and lovey-dovey with every person he meets.

A dog meet & greet at the shelter is needed, but with people? Smokey is an instant, heart-stealing favorite. After 6 months in the shelter, this golden-hearted old man urgently needs a foster or adopter to show him what real golden years look like.

All adoptable pets are spayed/neutered (or scheduled), vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to go home today! No pre-application or appointment needed—just bring a valid ID and walk in. Our adoption fees are among the lowest in Cincinnati!

To meet our animals, visit our Northside shelters any day from 1–6pm. If listed as foster, email foster@cincycare.org to schedule a meet and greet. Adopting an adult dog with resident dogs or kids at home?
