Smidget's Story

Animal Profile:
Smidget,
Audrey
and Tiny are 6 month old German Shepherd/Poodle sisters who are ready for a new beginning! Born into a hoarding situation, they’ve already overcome a tough start, and thanks to our partners at Washington Health Outreach, they were able to find their way into rescue.

Now safe and healthy, Smidget, Audrey and Tiny are discovering the world for the first time ... grass under their paws, toys to chase, and gentle hands to trust. They’re still learning that life can be full of kindness and fun, but each day brings a little more confidence and a few more tail wags.

These girls are blossoming into the wonderful dogs they were always meant to be, and we can’t wait to see them continue their journey with families who will help them shine.

Foster Update: Smidget is an adorable, attentive, curious, spunky and cautious sprite. She really likes other dogs & feels much more confident with one at her side, but isn’t so sure about humans outside of her home yet. It takes a lot of patience, time, confidence building

& some treats to win over her trust & even then, she’s still a bit skeptical. With time and gentle encouragement, she is learning to like snuggles (See photo 3). She’s a super smart, quick learner & watches everything. She can do “touch”, sit & play the “find it” game... She definitely has a mind of her own, doing things when she wants, in her own time & for whatever reason has some innate fear barriers to overcome. Smidget wants to play often & enthusiastically with other dogs who are willing; she’ll even gently & persistently try with those who aren’t. She’s super funny & silly & has a very sweet personality. For a baby, she knows how to chill, and can relax and occupy herself with her bone/toys. She is mostly potty trained (with only a few recent accidents -- she is a baby, after all)! She also sleeps through the night. She will complete the right family for sure! Smidget has come a long way & is an absolute joy to be around.

Smidget is looking for a mellow home with another playful dog. She will need a patient and confident adopter who can show her the world is not so scary and provide the security she needs as she gains confidence.
At

this time, we are only considering homes for Smidget with a confident friendly canine companion and fenced yard. We are not considering apartments or homes with young children.

Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575, which includes spay/neuter, current vaccinations per AVMA standards, microchip, negative heartworm test if over 6 months, and health certificate. Your donation may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization.

Apply Online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application

Animal History: This dog was transferred from our local rescue partner and arriving to our area foster care on 10/07/2025. This dog will be fostered in the greater Seattle area and available for adoption once evaluated.
