Slim's Story

Hi, my name is Slim! I got my name as the founder was driving to her office one day on a busy highway and she saw me just sitting in the middle of the road. I would not move so she had to straddle the road with her vehicle to protect me and get me to come to her. I was very very thin, had big swollen ears and lots of scars on my face. She saved me that day as I had reached a point in my life that I just didn't want to live anymore. People had not been good to me, I was so hungry, it was so hot outside and I was so thirsty. I'm grateful for her saving me that day and what it has done for me, the way that I have thrived here words can't even explain! The people here love me dearly, but as usual in Georgia I'm a bully so that gets held against me. I'm very kind natured and hearted, I generally love other female dogs and smaller dogs in general but male dogs I have to meet first. We have two boys here called Thor and echo and I'm fine with them they're a little hyper for me but they're OK. I truly love just being in your lap, I truly love receiving the love and affection that I have received since I arrived here. She immediately took me to the vet because of the condition I was in, thankfully she was so happy to hear that the scars on my face were not from fighting - they were simply from me scratching my ears over and over and over again as they bothered me so badly! The vet told her that I had probably had my ear infections for a year, thankfully once I was over them I did not lose my hearing. They were very concerned about that as I was only a year old. I've been at the rescue now for two years, I'm now three years old & more mature in my nature. I understand things better, I feel very safe in my crate, I am house broken, crate trained though I'm gonna be honest the first time she brought me in the house scared me to death! I had never seen the inside of a house before as again I was not treated well that’s why I broke free. I love everyone here that takes care of me, they literally show me nothing but love!! They have trained me on a leash and taught me how to be patient + slower and not pull. As I'm a pretty big boy! I think at the vet they said | weighed 67 Ibs so you can imagine I'm pretty strong, but I'm very respectful of the person on the other end of the leash. I know “no pull” that's something that we're taught here whenever we're leash trained! It means be kind, I also understand the word sweet - be sweet, be sweet and don't pull slim then I don’t. I enjoy everybody here that takes care of me! I will play with the ball, but when I get tired I just don't bring it back but that's OK. I enjoy sunbathing sometimes. I rarely bark, I think at first she was a little concerned that I didn't have a voice, but I do when I need to use it! I do mostly when I feel she needs me to protect her against someone or something, but I love to the core or my heart as that is part of my breed. I'm very loyal to the people that care for me so I hope that you won't use my breed against me. I hope you'll give me a chance to see the loving boy that I am. I'm also told I have very pretty markings on me, hopefully those will show in my pictures! Thank you for giving me an opportunity, please schedule a meet and greet so you can see who I really am.
Love,
Slim
