Skye Bull Terrier Faribault, MN

I am sure you have seen this quote: “The more I’m around people the more I like my dog.” Well I can tell you that “The more I’m around dogs the more I like my humans.” Hello, my name is Skye and although I showed up as a stray on the porch of these really swell people who took me in, but became an owner surrender because they lost their home, I love my humans. I don’t have that same kinda feeling about other dogs. I’m guessed to be between 2-4 years old and kinda on the small side at just under 50 lbs. My current foster parents really love me a lot and want to keep me, but as you might guess I have issues with their dogs. Kinda like Dr Seuss’s green eggs and ham. I do not like them at all.
However, I am such a sweet and loving pup with my adult humans and want to be around them all the time. I want them to be with me when I have my dinner and I am not protective of my food from anyone. I really am your ride or die dog.
Other than my issue with “selective hearing” I do know a few commands like sit, stay, wait, release, no (a big one, there), sit and paw (shake), and my name of course! I’m super smart, love praise, jump very high and I’m learning my “heel” leash walking skill but not quite perfect at that yet. I learn quickly and I am ready to learn as much as you want to teach me.
I do need daily exercise and a fenced yard will be a must because of my dog reactivity. When on walks you will need to be sure and keep a good hold on me, I’m a very strong almost 50 lbs. and when I see something I want I forget about that leash and I can pull you toward that “something” ….sometimes that’s a dog….which is a situation in which I do not make good decisions.
I love toys and I will dive into my toy basket feet and head first to find the toy I love (in that moment) proudly parading it in front of my humans hoping to get up a rousing game of chase. Then I run into my crate with the toy. My humans say I do not resource guard the toy while in my crate and will even allow you to remove it without an argument.
I probably will be best in a home with no children, but over 12 might be OK with correct supervision by the adult humans. I’m not a big fan of loud noises or a lot of unannounced activity around me…like kids running and jumping.
