Skye's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Skye is still available, which is both surprising (she's delightful) and unsurprising (she could not care less, and she makes her own decisions.)

The Good:

She is CUTE and SOFT and SNUGGLY!!!!

She is flawless in the house. Potty trained, crate trained, loose in the house safe, not interested in destroying your belongings, doesn't jump on people, isn't trying to counter surf, quiet, the whole shebang of Good Dog Behavior.

She's lovely on a leash, no pulling at all.

She loves to play! She has a favorite game, and she will teach you the rules- it's a sort of keep away/fetch mix.

Skye loves to get after it on the trail. By husky standards, she's a moderate exercise dog; by not husky standards, high but manageable for normal active people. She won't be a jerk if you take an occasional day off.

She's done a lot of road trips in her life, and she is great in the car.

She does well with kids and enjoys meeting new friends.

And, if you enjoy husky sass, she is here to pass judgement on you and everyone you meet.

The Less Good:

Skye enjoys chasing cats.

When it comes to other dogs, she brings a real Regina George sort of energy. She can be perfectly nice when she feels like it, but sometimes just wants to be a Mean Girl. With supervision, it's not bad; she is willing to stop bullying when asked, but you do have to watch her. She does have a couple dog friends she is reliably nice to.

Relatedly, she sometimes resource guards her person, specifically on the couch/good nap spot. It's also manageable with supervision, but would be a long term project if you want her to be part of a multi-dog house. No issues with guarding from other people, it's specifically a dog thing.

Basically, her specific flavor of Husky Shenanigans isn't escaping, it's playing mind games with other dogs.

TLDR Skye is a beautiful 4-year-old Husky who traveled all the way from the streets of La Paz, Mexico, to Alaska in search of something worth the journey: a family of her own.
