Skittles's Story

Meet Skittles — Our Beautiful Jamaican Girl Looking for Her Forever Home
If you've ever met a dog who smiles, you know how special they are... and Skittles is exactly that. This sweet girl has a heart full of love for people, and despite everything she's been through, she's already showing us her gentle, grateful spirit.
Skittles and her group survived a devastating hurricane, followed by vet checks, microchipping, vaccinations, strange crates, a long trip to the airport, an exhausting flight, and a stressful experience being brought to New York. It's no surprise that she and all the dogs from this mission may take a bit longer to decompress. With patience, love, and stability, we believe Skittles will bloom quickly.
Four years ago, Skittles arrived at the Negril rescue with six siblings—one of whom sadly did not make it. She grew up alongside her littermates and recently experienced a scary attack by a different dog pack, so she can be cautious around unfamiliar dogs. With slow introductions and respectful boundaries, she can absolutely coexist with canine friends. She likely misses the companionship she once had, and she's learning to trust again.
Today, Skittles is settling beautifully into her foster home.
She LOVES snuggling under a cozy blanket
She finds comfort in her crate or dog bed
She's a little hesitant on leash but improving daily
She's spayed, vaccinated, and healthy She is learning to play with her 2 new foster brothers
And most of all... she's a GOOD girl with so much love to give
Skittles would thrive in a calm, patient home ready to show her what safety and comfort feel like. If you're looking for a loyal companion who just needs someone to believe in her, Skittles is your girl.
Send us a message to learn more or apply to adopt this sweet Skittles.
