Skippy- In Foster Care's Story
To meet with her, please fill out an adoption application through the website at www.hsomc.org.

This sweet girl is the total package for someone looking for a loyal, goofy, energetic best friend. She’s recovering from an injury, but you’d never know it based on her spirit — even without using her back leg, she’s ready to chase every squirrel in the yard and live life at full speed. Her healing plan is mostly just time, and she currently takes gabapentin to help her stay calm when she’s resting in the crate.

Potty Trained & Settling In Well
She had one nervous accident on her first day, but ever since then she’s taken all her bathroom breaks outside like a champ. She’s smart, eager to please, and really wants to do the right thing.

Playful, Destructive (in a Fun Way), and Easily Entertained
She LOVES toys — the more destructible, the better — and playing with them has been a great way for her to burn energy while she’s restricted. She hasn’t tried to chew on anything inappropriate so far, but she is always supervised. She enjoys keeping herself busy but prefers when her person is right there beside her.

The Happiest Tail You’ll Ever Meet
She has intense “happy tail” and even got a little wound from wagging against the crate. Her whole body wiggles with joy — she cannot contain how excited she is to see you.

Training Potential & Personality
She listens well when corrected, follows you everywhere, and wants to please. She may not know all her commands yet, but she has so much potential with consistent guidance. She will absolutely thrive with structure.

High Energy & High Prey Drive
This girl is going to be an active dog. She’ll need someone who can provide regular walks, enrichment, and training. Because she has a strong prey drive and a tendency to chase, we recommend she be the only pet in the home.

Not a Match for Small Kids
She is mouthy and still learning the difference between gentle and too rough. When told “no,” she listens, but she needs someone willing to continue that training. She also has zero awareness of her size and enthusiasm — she’ll happily barrel into you at full speed. For this reason, a home without young children is best.

A Sweet, Snuggly Companion Once She Winds Down
After playtime and some good butt scratches, she turns into a cuddle bug who wants nothing more than to curl up next to you.

Ideal Home:
A committed adopter (individual or family) who understands high-energy dogs, enjoys training, and can offer daily exercise, mental stimulation, and consistency. Someone patient, active, and ready for a loyal shadow — because she loves to be with her people.

She really is a wonderful dog with an incredible heart. She just needs the right match — someone who will channel her energy, continue her training, and give her the stable, loving home she deserves.

At the Humane Society of Midland County, all animals adopted will be spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations prior to adoption. Dogs over 6 months of age will be heartworm tested, and any dog with a positive test will receive treatment at no additional cost to the owner. This is one reason we have fees on the dogs to help cover the extra medical some of the other residents need. They all share the burden and the rewards.
No Appointment Needed to Meet Adoptable Animals!
We have open adoption hours, and walk-ins are always welcome! While filling out an application lets us know you're interested in adopting, it does not hold an animal, and applications are not required to meet the available animals. We typically require a meet-and-greet between any resident dogs and the dog you’re interested in adopting, to ensure everyone gets along safely and comfortably.
Want to Know if I’m Still Available?
Call the shelter at (989)-835-1877 to confirm my availability. If you’d like to show you’re thinking about adopting, please fill out an application on our website under "Adopt" at www.hsomc.org.
Open Adoption Hours:
• Tuesday & Wednesday: Noon – 6 pm
• Thursday & Friday: Noon – 7 pm
• Saturday: Noon – 4 pm
I’m located at the Humane Society of Midland County, 4371 E Ashman St, Midland, MI 48642.
We can’t wait to meet you and help you find your new best friend!
