Sissy 's Story
Sissy
1 year old
Female
Terrier mix
15-20 lbs

Sissy came to us from a shelter scared and confused. She was picked up running at large, surrendered and separated from her dog friend after the owner decided to keep that one and not her, and then put on transport to come up to us. She’s what we call a slow burn… She spent days secluding herself from her foster and the other dogs and would growl but also submissively show her belly as if to say “I’m not a threat, but I’ve been hurt before and I don’t trust you.”

Fast forward a few weeks and she now LOVES her foster mom, gets the zoomies, sleeps in bed, and is starting to play with the other dogs and toys. She successfully met a stranger (with her foster mom by her side) and was very happy to receive pets. Moving to a new home with new people again will likely be tough for her, but we are very confident that if she’s given space and time and her adopters listen to her foster mom regarding appropriate decompression, she will warm up and be a fabulous addition to her forever family.

- Dog friendly
- Has not met cats but would likely be fine
- Crate trained
- Working on potty training
- Walks well on leash once she trusts you
- Fenced yard preferred but not required
- Will need play pen and pee pads for decompression period
- No young children who can’t understand to give her space

If you’re interested in adopting Sissy please complete an application at www.rosebudrescue.com/adopt
Local adopters only at this time due to her upcoming spay which is included in her adoption fee.

*Please keep in mind that it is time consuming for our volunteers to process applications. We ask that you are sure you are ready to welcome a dog into your home and are seriously interested in adopting BEFORE applying.
