Meet Sissy, an 11-month-old, 50-pound Black Mouth Cur mix looking for her forever home.<br/><br/>Sissy was caught as a feral puppy. She initially stayed with us at the barn, where she had a safe, quiet place to decompress and begin learning that people could be trusted. Once our other foster, Sage, went to training, Sissy moved into our home and quickly adapted to life as a house dog. She has come an incredible distance since the day we caught her.<br/><br/>Sissy is curious, spontaneous, playful, cuddly, and surprisingly good at being a couch potato. She can be shy when meeting new people and prefers to take some time to warm up rather than immediately running over for attention. Once she trusts you, however, she becomes an absolute goofball and cuddle bug. She is friendly, non-aggressive, and non-reactive. And because Sissy has no tail, when she’s happy, she wags her entire butt.<br/><br/>She loves other dogs and genuinely enjoys playing with them. She can coexist with cats with supervision, although she tends to think cats are there to play with her. She has also been around horses without issue.<br/><br/>Sissy is fully indoor, crate trained, house trained with occasional accidents, comfortable being left alone, great in the car, and able to settle easily in the house. She has a large fenced yard and is currently completing a two-month professional training program. She knows basic obedience including sit, down, heel, and leave it, has great leash manners, and is working on recall and off-leash reliability through e-collar training. Her trainer is available for continued support after adoption.<br/><br/>Sissy is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccines and flea/tick prevention, has no known medical issues, and requires no special diet. Veterinary records will go with her adopter.<br/><br/>Her ideal home would be someone who enjoys daily walks and companionship but also appreciates a good couch day. She would do best with someone patient enough to let her warm up at her own pace.
