Simon's Story
We can't figure out why someone would turn a very sweet senior guy into a scary kill shelter. We can't help thinking about how sad and difficult that must have been for this sweet little guy. The report we've received from Simon's rescuer is that he is initially a tad shy (who wouldn't be after ending up at a scary shelter), is excellent with people and other dogs and has no known health or behavioral issues of any kind. This little dog will be a gift to a family that's searching for a mellow, well-behaved and very loving dog in their lives.

Simon is believed to be 10-ish years old. While Simon looks like he could have some Red Heeler in him, he is only 15 lbs so the vets believe that, despite his gorgeous markings, he is a Chihuahua mix - possibly with some Corgi in him as well.

Now that he know he's safe, Simon is relaxing in his foster home. The following is an update from his foster after he arrived to Colorado:
"Simon is so sweet. He would do great in a home with other dogs, and feels secure with buddies around. He was super shy when he first came home and didn't want to come out of his crate for the first day. I can't imagine how sad, scary, and confusing it is for this poor sweet older gentleman to loose his home at an older age. I don't blame him for being shy and confused at first. But given a few days, he started warming up and realizing that he is safe and in a home again. He is very sweet."

Simon has a cottony soft coat that is currently shelter - sad. He will require a lifelong commitment to periodic baths / brushing and excellent nutrition including 5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement for great health, a cottony-soft coat and a long, very healthy life.

Farfel's Rescue has made the decision that we'd like to see Simon in a home with loving and devoted retirees that spends lots of time at home...or enjoy taking their furry best friend along. A younger individual or couple that works from a home-based office would also be a good choice for this sweet guy too.

Simon is unknown with cats. He is however, compatible and enjoys gentle, respectful dogs. A day of hanging out in the sunshine together would speak to Simon's gentle nature. We wonder if Simon would be just as happy as an only dog with a family that will shower full-time love and pampering on him. He would return that love and kindness a million times over as he falls more and more in love with his family.

Simon will require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming and excellent nutrition. A daily salmon oil supplement coupled with 5 star food is a great regimen to keep his cottony-soft coat healthy and gorgeous.

Simon is available for adoption now. If interested in this cuddly, loyal and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE**. If you're truly interested in adopting Simon please be sure to submit the Farfel's Rescue adoption application that can be found at the link above or at farfels.com. Rescue site applications such as Petfinder or Adoptapet don't provide enough information for us to determine a great match for this very deserving dog, and therefore aren't useful. We're sorry, but in many circumstances, we're unable to get back to those those that don't submit a Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue!
