Simon's Story

Meet Simon — a 7-year-old, 40-pound (on a wellness journey toward 30!) terrier-ish, maybe-beagle-ish gentleman who has bounced back from pancreatitis and is officially back in business: eating, drinking, pottying, and thriving like a pro.

Simon is the kind of dog who makes you say, “Wow, you’re really easy to live with.” He’s gentle, polite, and comes with some factory-installed manners. He knows sit, paw, other paw (overachiever), and has clearly dabbled in heel at some point in his life. On walks, he’s mostly a total gentleman — other animals may spark his interest, but he’s easily redirected and keeps his cool.

At home, Simon is a loyal shadow who quietly follows you from room to room, then calmly minds his business when you leave. He doesn’t need a crate — he hangs out politely in his guest-room suite at night and when you’re out, no complaints or shenanigans. He enjoys walks, a good game of fetch, and being a devoted desk-side coworker who never steals your lunch.

>> Simon’s wishlist:
• A quieter home with adults and/or teens
• A human committed to his glow-up journey (about 10 lbs to lose)
• Lifelong low-fat prescription food, regular exercise, and a routine that keeps his pancreas happy and joints comfy

Simon is a sensitive soul who likes calm vibes and predictable days. While he’s been fine with kids, cats, and other dogs, it’s clear he’d be happiest where things are peaceful and he doesn’t have to share his favorite furniture or nap spots with a full cast of characters. He may be a little selective with animal roommates and prefers quality over quantity in his inner circle.

If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal, quietly wonderful companion who will walk nicely at your side, nap politely nearby, and take his health journey seriously (with your help), Simon is ready to be your steady, soulful sidekick.

If you are interested in finding out more about Simon, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser:

https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog

Simon is being fostered in Sutton, MA.

The adoption fee is $500.

Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!.

Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram!

Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

Broken Tail Rescue's Adoption Policy
Our Adoption Process Broken Tail Rescue is looking for responsible and caring people to give a dog or cat their much-needed second chance at happiness. To adopt from us, you must first complete an application, which you can complete online here: https://www.brokentailrescue.org/adopt/ Once we receive your application, the foster parent or application team will be in touch with you within a few days to discuss the application and the pet you are applying for. If the pet is a good match for your family, you will then be asked to meet the pet at the foster parent’s home, if applicable, or come to one of our cat adoption centers during our adoption hours. We ask that all members of the household come out to meet the pet. If you are applying for a dog, all current dogs in the household need to come meet the dog as well. If the animal is a good fit for your home (canines only), we will then check your references. We ask for two personal references and the name of the vet that you currently use or have used in the past. The last step in the adoption process is the home visit (canines only). We just want to make sure your home is generally a safe place for the pet to live and confirm the address listed on the application. After the home visit, the adoption can be completed! Paperwork is completed at the foster home, and you can take home your new pet! While the process may seem extensive, it generally is not a long, drawn-out process – we can move as quickly as schedules allow, and most adoptions are completed in under a week. However, we feel it is important to take time to make sure we are matching the pet to the correct home. We would hate for a pet to be returned to us because of a hasty decision. Adoption Guidelines The following are just a few initial guidelines you should consider before deciding to adopt: Some adoptions will require adopters to enroll the dog in training classes as a condition of adoption There may be additional adoption requirements for puppies (puppy socialization classes, someone home during the day, etc.) Renters must have landlord’s permission Adopters must be 21 years of age or older All adoptive homes must be stable, supportive, and capable and willing to meet all financial and veterinary needs of the animal Adoption Fees Adoption fees help defray the cost of transportation, care, and medical treatment. Dogs Our adoption fees are generally between $300 and $400 for most adult dogs and puppies and are decided on a case-by-case basis. All dogs adopted from Broken Tail Rescue will be spayed or neutered, receive a veterinary exam, be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested and started on preventive, dewormed, given flea and tick treatment if needed, and microchipped. Cats Our adoption fee varies by age for cats and kittens: 1 Kitten (under 12 months): $350 2 Kittens: $650 1 Young Cat (1-4yrs): $275 2 Young Cats: $500 1 Adult Cat (5-9 yrs): $225 2 Adult Cats: $400 Senior (10+ yrs): $150 Special Needs Cat: $150 or TBD 2 Senior or Special Needs: $250 or TBD All cats adopted from Broken Tail Rescue will be spayed or neutered, receive a veterinary exam, be up to date on vaccinations, FeLV/FIV tested, dewormed, given flea and tick treatment, and microchipped.
