Simon's Story

Meet Simon!

-- Male
-- 3.5 months old (DOB 5/22/26)
-- 19 lbs on 8/27/26
-- Expected to be M-L full grown (mom is 45ish lbs)
-- Neutered, vaccinated, microchipped
-- Dog, cat, kid friendly
-- Social butterfly!

Simon is a social butterfly! He loooooves anyone and everyone, has a touch of an adventurous and free spirit, curious explorer, and cuddle bug of course. He is in foster with another dog and cats. He also loved the young kid in his temp foster home.

NOTE: There is a chance that Simon will eventually be blind. His mom (Takumi) seemed to have vision problems so we had a DNA health test done. Takumi has two copies of Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA); believed to be the cause of her blindness. Since PRA is an inherited/genetic, there is a chance it could have been passed along to her puppies. There is no medical treatment or care needed for PRA, but affected dogs typically go fully blind at a young age. Simon seems to be able to see currently. We just want to ensure his adopter knows of the potential.

BACKSTORY: Mom (Takumi) was roaming with other dogs and picked up by AC limping. She was found to have a broken leg, and most unexpectedly of all, went into labor in the back of the officers truck on the way to the vet. Takumi has a wonderful temperament and looks like a petite shar pei / pittie mix.

REQUIREMENTS: Any resident dogs in the home must be spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, and on prevention. We also do a home visit with all fosters and adopters.

LOCATION: Currently in foster in Griffin, GA

AVAILABILITY: Available for adoption or foster-to-adopt.

ADOPTION FEE: $150

APPLY HERE: joyspromise.org/adopt

--

Note: If you are interested in adopting, please COMPLETE AN APPLICATION THROUGH OUR WEBSITE. Inquiries on adoption sites is not an application. Your inquiry will not be seen until you complete an actual application at joyspromise.org/adopt

Our Mission
Joy’s Promise is a promise to keep fighting for those like Joy. The discarded, unwanted, abused and neglected. It won’t always look like Joy, a pregnant mama facing euthanasia.
