Simba's Story

Hi, my name is Simba! I'm a PURPLE pawprint, which means I will fit well into a home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:

-Personality: Friendly, energetic, a little unsure sometimes but gaining confidence every day, goofy, friendly, happy-go-lucky boy!
-Can Live with Kids: Unknown history with kids - dog-savvy kids ages 8+ may be okay pending an initial introduction done here at WHS (up to counselor's discretion)
-Can Live with Cats: Has never lived with cats before / unknown how he will react. Introductions will need to be slow and structured.
-Can Live with Dogs: Yes, all introductions done at WHS!
-Can do Apartment Living: No thanks! Simba was surrendered in part because his owners thought he needed more space. He can also be vocal at times which is not ideal in an apartment setting. A home on property / with a nice big yard is preferred.
-Potty Trained: Simba has been known to mark (urinate) inside. He needs some help to break this habit. Neutering may also help.
-Bite History: No
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Not required but recommended!
-Energy Level: High
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Yes, a neuter
-Additional Information:
Simba is an exuberant young dog who is still very much in his "puppy era". He's still learning and needs someone who can help him along on his journey. Simba is only about a year old and full of energy. His perfect match is an active person who will bring him along on their jogs, walks, hikes, etc. Simba hasn't had much in the way of training and would benefit greatly from consistency and a routine. His perfect match is someone who has a flexible schedule and plenty of time to dedicate to helping him get all trained up. Luckily he is treat-motivated and eager to please, which will make training much easier. Simba is a super sweet boy who is likely going to bond strongly to his person. He can be a bit skittish at times, so someone who can go slow with him and respect his boundaries would be best.

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
