Siggy aka Red Collar with Leaves's Story

Sweet Siggy is a petite and easy-going puppy. She is affectionate, relaxed, and happy, often able to entertain herself and settle down for a nap independently. If play becomes too rough, Siggy knows how to step back. She quickly learned how to use the doggie door, showing herself to be a smart and observant little girl with very few accidents in the house. Siggy also falls asleep quickly during car rides.

We can tell the puppies apart not only by their temperaments but also by Siggy's tan eyebrows, shorter coat, and her red collar adorned with a leaf pattern. She lives with her littermate, Freyah, who is comparatively the life of the party.

We have given them plenty of love and snuggles while introducing them to the wider world through outings. They are learning to navigate stairs, potty train, exhibit household manners, take car rides, and coexist with other dogs, cats, and children, depending on their foster home.

Freyah, Siggy, Echoe, Saige, and Konna were initially fostered together while we arranged their next foster homes. They were adorable with the two resident dogs, the cat, and their foster's young relatives. Echoe and Saige left for their next foster home first, followed by Freyah and Siggy a few days later. We are very grateful to the fosters who can accommodate a large litter of puppies on short notice, allowing us the time to prepare their next foster homes with all the necessary supplies for raising puppies.

Currently, Siggy and Freyah are living with three resident dogs in their foster home. They are enjoying plenty of outings and developing good household skills under the care of their experienced caregivers.

These girls were part of a litter of seven 6-week-old puppies (six girls and one boy) we welcomed into our care. All of them had upper respiratory infections and began receiving doxycycline at the shelter. Each puppy required a second round of antibiotics after the initial seven-day treatment. Fortunately, they were spared from strep zoo during their stay at the shelter, despite their compromised immune systems due to the respiratory infections. As a preventive measure, they also received an antibiotic shot because the shelter had closed due to a strep zoo outbreak. We held our breath for ten days and were relieved when none of the puppies showed signs of strep zoo, ensuring the safety of our resident dogs as well.

Each puppy has visited the vet for two sets of boosters, deworming, and preventive care. All are now healthy, adorable little bundles of joy.

When the litter arrived, they were fully weaned and happily enjoying softened kibble mixed with canned food, which is typical for 6-week-olds. Despite having runny noses and congestion from the upper respiratory infection, their appetites remained strong. They were happy and brave pups with outgoing, social personalities. Thanks to the dedicated shelter staff and volunteers, the puppies received excellent care during their time at the shelter, where they grew and weaned from their mother before arriving in our care. The mother has since been adopted through the shelter.

In their foster homes, they have continued to thrive as playful pups full of mischief and love.

We are seeking homes with experience with German Shepherds and the time and resources to provide training, positive environmental exposure, and the structure these dogs require to thrive and become well-balanced companions. Please note that we do not adopt out littermates together.

Have you seen our YouTube channel? Please take the time to read the questions and carefully complete the application. Please include full explanations with as much information as possible - this will help us with the review of your application If renting, your landlord's consent is required to proceed with your application. Our landlord permission form is embedded in the application and is required before your application can be processed. We primarily assist at-risk dogs and serve adopters in Northern California. We are currently focused in the following counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, El Dorado, Marin, Monterey, Napa, Placer, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, Sonoma and Yolo, and on a limited basis the Ft.
