Shy's Story

Shy is a gentle and independent senior lady who is ready to find her forever home. With a name like Shy, you might expect her to be timid, but this dog has a quiet confidence that is truly special. She knows who she is and what she wants — a warm lap to curl up on and a loving family to call her own. Shy needs to be the only animal in the jome. She is the perfect companion for quiet moments and deep connections. Her gentle nature will warm your heart, and her independent streak will remind you of her resilience and character. Shy is a dog who has lived a life and now deserves all the love and comfort the world has to offer. Could you be the one to offer her a place of her own?

Rock Island County Animal Care and Control's Adoption Policy
We recommend that you research breed characteristics, visit our shelter, then select and spend time with the animals. Once you have determined that a pet is a good match for your family, you will need to complete the adoption application and pay the adoption fee. Once this done, you and your new family member can head home! Be willing to spend at least an hour and perhaps two from the time you arrive until you leave. After looking through our adoption wards, notify the front desk if there is a specific animal you are interested in. If you are interested in one of the adoptable dogs or puppies, a kennel attendant will get the dog out for you to meet. We encourage you to spend some time getting acquainted with the animal you are interested in so that you can get to know it before making your decision. After completing the adoption and registration information, you and your new best friend are on your way!
