Though she's not yet used to being around people and is very uncomfortable with handling, her playful side shines through the moment a toy rolls her way.

She gets so excited for toys-chasing balls, chewing bones, and lighting up during playtime with her kennel mates. That joyful energy is helping her build confidence, and every day she's learning a little more about the world outside her comfort zone.

Showboat is still very nervous about human interaction and is being introduced to handling slowly. She requires a confident, established dog in the home to help guide her and show her the ropes. She also needs an experienced, patient adopter who understands the needs of fearful dogs and can support her progress without pressure.

A securely fenced yard is essential, giving her space to explore and play safely as she continues building trust at her own pace.

Because of her sensitivity and need for careful introductions, Showboat will require a second meet and greet prior to adoption to ensure it's a good match for both her and her future family.
---
Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog's individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!
