Showa- prison's Story

Showa is an old resident here who returned to us on the 10th of December. Showa is an EXTREMELY sweet boy, but so sweet that he became very protective of the children in the house to the point where no one could come to visit. Despite this, it was only the children, he was not protective of the adults in the house. On account of this Showa needs a home without any children frequently there. Showa does amazing with any other dogs and is a big timid of the cats, so he will not bother them. This boy is a chunky coonhound mix who weighs in at 73 pounds and is about 2 years old. Showa is a part of our big playgroup along with Chief, Archer (Rescued), Magni, Jupiter, and a few others. His kennel is usually clean throughout the day, so he may be housebroken, but there could always be accidents once a dog is trying to transition into a home. Showa is a VERY sweet boy who just wants a loving home for the holidays. Showa entered the prison program on December 19th. This is where inmates foster some of the dogs, teach them basic commands and work on housebreaking.

They needs to complete their first 30 days of training before going home. Prison dogs can be spoken for at any time with an approved application. Dogs in the prison program can stay up to 90 days in the program. To meet a prison dog, please fill out an online application at www.hsmcohio.com. Once approved, a day and time will be set for the dog to be pulled from the prison for you to meet at the shelter. This will happen after the 30 days of training.

Adoption applications can be done at www.hsmcohio.com. Our normal adoption fee is $115.00 which includes a Home Again Microchip, set of shots, deworming, heartworm testing if old enough, and spay or neuter. Plus has a 1 year rabies. If you are interested in this dog, please call the shelter at 614-879-8368 or fill out an online application at www.hsmcohio.com
