SHINE's Story

JUST A SWEET LITTLE OLD LADY IN AN ADORABLE LITTLE PACKAGE?

This adorable little potato, came to us from a hoarding situation where she spent most of her life, pumping out puppies, This kind of life takes a toll on a dog so aging her was hard but our vets believer her to be around 10 years old.

She is the cutest little thing with the best little personality. She is not needy or yappy or picky and is content to just take her naps in her bed, or in her crate and mosey around outside, in her foster's fenced yard, enjoying a nice day of rolling in the grass, snoozing in the shade or sniffing out all the interesting sniffs.

What you do not get with shine, is noise, nip or attitude. Quite the opposite. Life as one of many, molded her into a fairly independent little girl, who does not need laps or spoiling and probably would not appreciate being dressed up, hauled around in a purse or over smooched. She is not particularly athletic, a bit arthritic and a little on the chunky size, so she does not jump on furniture or beds. She does very much appreciate SLEEPING on a bed with you though so we hope she will have that, in her forever home.

Shine LOVES meal and treat times (pretty much the only time she will bark) which gives new people a great way to say "How do you do?" Spending her life as one of many, she does not understand tons of attention, being picked up or coddled, so really does not seem to care much for it...yet If you need to pick her up, she will just hunker down and endure it but you can tell it makes her uncomfortable. Perhaps with time she could learn to relax and appreciate being picked up and snuggled but right now, she would rather just be near, get pets while she is on the ground and enjoy any treats you want to feed her. She is just a easy going kind of girl, who is crate trained and house broken, good with other dogs and cats and super easy to have around. Though we have not tested her with kids, she is such a gentle soul, that if you have them and they are gentle souls too, we feel she would be just fine. She is not, however, particularly playful and will hide, if there are loud noises or raised voices so boisterous kids would not be a very good idea. She weathered the 4th of July just fine though, with a chewy in her crate.

Shine does suffer from arthritis pain from degenerative discs in her back, probably cause by calcium loss from a lifetime of puppy making and poor nutrition. For the most part, she gets around great, scampering about the house but getting up stairs and rising from a bed, after she has had a nap, does hurt her. She is currently on low cost meds that seem to be helping.

So if this simple, gentle, cute as a bug little girl sounds like what you have been looking for, go to our website at www.allmuttsgreatandsmall.org/adoption and submit your application. We would love to make this sweety a happy girl, by giving her a quiet, loving home to call her own.

Shine is spayed, had a recent dental, is up to date on five way and rabies vaccines, was fecal tested and treated for noted parasites, is flea and tick free and microchipped.

Shine would make an excellent companion for an older person who is feeling lonely. She does not ask for much. Just food and to sleep in your bed at night.

Adoption Fee $350

* We require notes from certified doctors when
requesting a dog as an ESA
*Inquiries submitted through Petfinder, are not the
same as applications submitted through our webpage.
*Yes we do out of state adoptions.
*No, we do not transport. You must be willing to come
and meet the dog and take it home with you.
*Yes we do Canadian adoptions.
*If the dog is on Petfinder, it is still available.
*You must be 18 years of age to adopt
*If you submit questions about an adoptable dog,
covered in the Petfinder bio, we will not respond.
*We do not pick the first good application. We pick the
most suitable application for the dog, out of all
submitted.
*All correspondence is handled via email as time allows.
* If you are not chosen, you will not be notified

For a more detailed explanation of our adoption process, go to www.allmuttsgreatandsmall.org/adoption and read "The Adoption Process" link

All Mutts Great and Small's Adoption Policy
We believe there are many different ways to be a successful dog owner. It is our intent to broaden the idea of happy dog/person relationships to go beyond the traditional. Our goal is to place people and dogs together with the intent being compatibility. We know these dogs and we want to match them with the person who will provide them with the best possible life. One they would have chosen themselves had they been able too. We do NOT have a standard list of "must haves", preferring to match dog with adopter. www.allmuttsgreatandsmall.org
