SHIMMER's Story

EASY PEASY LEMON SQUEEZY

That is Shimmer in a cute little ole nutshell.

Shimmer has had some rough luck.

She lived with a person who just kind of let all her dogs breed indiscriminately and then passed away. The neighbor of a family member, stepped into help the 12-14 dogs left without care, taking them all to live with her as fosters, hoping to find them all homes eventually, but was killed 8 months later, in a tragic accident.

The cry went out to rescues far and wide and we stepped in to help with six of them, Shimmer being one.

Shimmer is a gentle and sweet little thing, that just likes to hang out, eat, maybe soak up some sunshine and be happy. She is not really afraid of people but life has taught her not to expect too much and she seems to be happy with that, She comes running when called, will prance and dance and sing for her supper, and when you insist, will allow herself to be picked up and snuggled on, though it is not a concept she is familiar with. She likes being around people, but touch is not something she has ever gotten used to. We think in a home where the dog to human ratio is more even (she currently lives in a foster home with 11 other dogs) she could be persuaded to see the benefits of snuggle sessions, sleeping in human beds, lap naps and all the creature comforts that come with being special and not just one of a dozen.

Shimmer is a creature of routine and is quick to adopt to new ones. She loves her fleece blanket covered crate with it's fluffy donut bed and stuffy toys. It is her "safe space". In the mornings, she happily runs to the door for potty time and is equally happy to come back in, where she will prance, and wiggle and wag in the kitchen, talking to her foster, until breakfast is served. After breakfast, it's X Pen time and she is happy to hang out in her cushy set up where she chooses to stay, on her big mound of blankies, even though she is free to roam the whole house. She has a short coat that is soft as down, a tail that wags constantly, a very happy attitude and is just an easy little girl to be around. At 5 years old and seven pounds, she is the perfect age and size for travel, short walks, apartment living, RV life and just being another heartbeat in a home that might be feeling too alone.

If you would like to meet this meek and gentle little one, please go to our website at www.allmuttsgreatandsmall.org/adoption and fill out the online application. With approval, we will set up a date and make the intros.

Shimmer is spayed, up to date on five way and rabies vaccines, fecal tested clean of internal parasites, fleaand tick free and microchipped. She just needs a peaceful, gentle home to call her own.

Adoption fee is $350

PLEASE NOTE*:

* We require notes from certified doctors when
requesting a dog as an ESA
*Inquiries submitted through Petfinder, are not the
same as applications submitted through our webpage.
*Yes we do out of state adoptions.
*No, we do not transport. You must be willing to come
and meet the dog and take it home with you.
*Yes we do Canadian adoptions.
*If the dog is on Petfinder, it is still available.
*You must be 18 years of age to adopt
*If you submit questions about an adoptable dog,
covered in the Petfinder bio, we will not respond.
*We do not pick the first good application. All Mutts Great and Small's Adoption Policy
We believe there are many different ways to be a successful dog owner. It is our intent to broaden the idea of happy dog/person relationships to go beyond the traditional. Our goal is to place people and dogs together with the intent being compatibility. We know these dogs and we want to match them with the person who will provide them with the best possible life. One they would have chosen themselves had they been able too. We do NOT have a standard list of "must haves", preferring to match dog with adopter. www.allmuttsgreatandsmall.org
