Meet Shiloh!<br/><br/>Shiloh is a sweet, young pup who was born blind, and it hasn't slowed him down one bit! He's making huge strides at living a full, happy life with just a few minimal accommodations. Don't let his blindness fool you: Shiloh is super smart, adapts well, and needs a little extra time to learn the layout of a new environment before his puppy energy really shines through.<br/><br/>Shiloh will thrive in a home that can dedicate some extra time and patience during the first couple of weeks while he adjusts to new sounds and surroundings. Once he settles in, there's no doubt he'll be a wonderful companion. With gentle guidance, he comes out of his shell a little more every day, and his personality shines brighter as his confidence grows.<br/><br/>Shiloh loves bones and his crinkle toys (the sound helps him find them easily!), and he's learning commands like a typical puppy would, including leave it. He's also picking up helpful cues like easy, careful, here, and door to help him navigate his surroundings with confidence.<br/><br/>Loud or unfamiliar noises are still new to him, and he can get a little uneasy with sudden sounds — but he stays on track and always finds his way back to his safe space. As he becomes more familiar with repetitive sounds, he's venturing farther and farther outside each day. Positive reinforcement and calm engagement around new noises go a long way in helping him feel safe and secure.<br/><br/>Shiloh would do best as an only dog for now, or possibly paired with an older, low-key dog that won't overwhelm him with fast movements or rough play, while he continues building his confidence and independence.<br/><br/>Shiloh sleeps and rests well in his kennel, though he does require a plastic or covered kennel rather than a metal one, as the noise from metal kennels makes him uneasy. His kennel is also his safe space when unfamiliar sounds make him unsure.<br/><br/><br/>Thanks for considering a dog from Texas Cattle Dog Rescue!
