Sherri's Story

Meet Sherri! A Dainty Little Girl from Kosovo Looking for Her Happy Ending

Imagine being a tiny puppy, alone on the streets of Kosovo, frightened, hungry, and unsure whom you can trust. That was Sherri’s reality before someone finally gave her the chance she deserved.

Sherri was found as a stray, a very frightened little pup whose world must have seemed like a scary place. But even her fear couldn’t overcome her hunger for food and love. Little by little, she allowed herself to be rescued, and that brave decision changed the course of her life forever.

Sherri is now almost a year old, weighs just 19 pounds, and is a truly dainty little girl. She may be a bit timid when first encountering new situations, but she warms up to people quickly and has a very sweet, affectionate side. She loves other dogs, and one of her favorite things is being held by people. There is something especially heartwarming about seeing this little survivor snuggled safely in someone's arms, enjoying the love and security she deserves.

In Kosovo, hundreds of puppies struggle to survive on the streets, and finding someone willing to offer them safety, shelter, and love is heartbreakingly rare. For most, the dream of finding a family may never become a reality. And even for those lucky enough to be rescued, traveling to the United States is an extraordinary opportunity. Dogs need a human escort to make the journey, and with so many people in Kosovo facing financial hardship, opportunities to travel are limited.

Sherri was lucky enough to be rescued. Then, as if fate had decided she deserved a second miracle, a kind woman who works at the US embassy in Kosovo offered to escort her to America while traveling here herself.

Two miracles for one little girl!

Now Sherri is safe in New Hampshire, and her next chapter is waiting to be written. She would love a family who will shower her with affection, include her in their daily lives, and give her all the cuddles her little heart desires. She also loves other dogs, so having a canine friend could be a wonderful bonus for this petite sweetheart.

Sherri is house trained in that she knows to go on paper or a wee pad when she is inside, and she knows to do her business outside when she goes for a walk. We have discovered that if she's not the first one to go out when it's potty time, well, Sherri will opt for the most convenient option, which in that case would be the paper / wee pad. So it's all about timing for this girl.

Sherri deserves a home where she will always have a full belly, a soft place to sleep, gentle hands to comfort her, and people who will show her every day that she is safe and loved. Because of her initial timidity, she would be best in a home with older children who would be gentle and understanding of her needs.

Her journey from the streets of Kosovo to New Hampshire was a long one. Now she just needs one more journey, the one that takes her straight into the heart of her forever family.

Sherri is a dainty little package of sweetness who has already beaten the odds. All she needs now is someone to love her forever.

If you're interested in adopting this precious little girl, please complete an adoption application on our website.

Adoption Info:
- Apply at https://www.heartsandtails.org/adoption-application
