Shep's Story

Meet Shep

Age: ~3 years
Neutered: Yes
Bristow, OK

Shep is a true German Shepherd through and through - loyal, fun, devoted, and ready to be someone's everything.

He came to us through a transfer from SPACAR Animal Advocates, where a dedicated foster took a mentally struggling shelter dog and turned him into a thriving, joyful companion in under a month. In that time Shep overcame separation anxiety, became crate and house trained, learned sit, down, rollover, and recall, and discovered his two greatest loves in life - running full speed across a big yard and jumping in the water.

This boy bonds fast and loves hard. He wants to go where you go, do what you do, and be right beside you at the end of the day. He's the kind of dog who makes you feel like the most important person in the world - because to him, you are.

What we know:
Loves to run - needs space and a 6-foot fence (he clears 4 feet like it's nothing)
Loves water - a pool, a lake, a puddle, he's in
Dog friendly with proper introductions - does best with a buddy his size
Good with kids and people
Leash, crate, and house trained
Knows sit, down, rollover, and has solid recall
No cats. No young or small dogs.

One thing worth knowing: Shep had some elevated liver values on recent bloodwork. His vet believes it's stress-related from his time in the shelter, and he'll need a recheck in the coming weeks. His future family should be prepared to see that through with him.

Shep doesn't need a perfect home. He needs an active one - someone with GSD experience, a yard to run in, a dog buddy to play with, and the commitment to keep building on the incredible foundation he's already laid.

He's been through a lot to get here. He's worth it.

Apply to adopt: https://oklahomagsr.org/application
Apply to foster: https://oklahomagsr.org/foster
