*Sheldon is a palliative adoption. He is currently stable and comfortable, but due to his ongoing medical needs, including treatment for allergies, GI issues, ear infections, and seizures, he is being made available as a no-fee palliative adoption. Sheldon is on a daily medication regimen and will require ongoing veterinary care, but he is an affectionate and active dog who loves attention and has a great quality of life. Our goal is to find Sheldon a loving home that can continue to provide him with the care and attention he needs.* HOW DID SHELDON GET HERE? Came to us as a stray so we do not have his history but we do know that he is ready for a forever home! PERSONALITY: - Food motivated - Active - Likes attention and is easy to engage - Playful - loves all toys including stuffies, balls and squeaky toys - Has shown some food and toy guarding, working on this! - Good with handling at the shelter - Loves to run around - Great on leash - Prefers to do his business outside WHAT TYPE OF HOME IS SHELDON LOOKING FOR? - Adult only home that has some experience with dogs (18 years+) - Best suited as an only dog - Can live with a dog-savvy cat - A home excited to continue training! Sheldon is on a daily medication regimen, including Apoquel, Prednisone and Keppra. Sheldon is also eating Hills Z/D Low Fat to manage his allergies and GI health. Any changes to Sheldon's diet or medication should only be made in consultation with a vet. OUR CONTACTLESS ADOPTION PROCESS Thank you for your interest in adopting a pet from the Oakville & Milton Humane Society! In response to the challenges the shelter has been facing with COVID-19, we are limiting interactions between the public and our staff in order to help stop the spread. This means that interested adopters will not be permitted to view the animals in person. For those looking to adopt a dog or a puppy, an opportunity will be given to meet with the dog or puppy prior to adoption after a successful phone meeting with the best matched applicant. Introductions to any current dogs or puppies in the household will also be arranged to ensure the dog or puppy is a good fit for the family. The Oakville & Milton Humane Society strives to find great matches for both the animals and those looking to adopt them. The first step to finding that match is for you is to view the adoptable animals on on the following webpage: https://omhs.ca/adopt/ Once you have found an animal who you would like to adopt, please complete and submit an Adoption Application. Please only apply for one pet at a time (or two if you are looking to adopt a pair). Your Adoption Application cannot be processed unless you indicate which animal you are applying for. If you express interest in multiple animals, the Adoptions department will only be able to process for the first animal listed.
