SHELBY's Story

Shelby is a sweet, affectionate German Shepherd x Heeler mix who is ready for a fresh start. She was surrendered to our shelter due to challenges associated with littermate syndrome after being raised closely with her sister, who has since been adopted. She carries small reminders of that history in her torn right ear and a scar along the back of her neck, likely the results of those sibling scuffles. Shelby is intelligent, highly treat-motivated, and eager to learn. During recent day trips, including time spent in a workplace/office setting, she showed herself to be adaptable and responsive, loading into the car with encouragement and settling nicely into the outing. She is already working on basic skills like SIT and WAIT and will benefit greatly from continued structure and positive reinforcement. Most of all, Shelby is a loving, people-oriented companion who enjoys affection and being close to her humans. Schedule an appointment to meet Shelby at yoloshelter.org/dogs or email adopt@yoloshelter.org
