Hi, my name is SHELBY and I'm a very beautiful and well behaved girl! I'm a Lab mix who is just over a year old and fully grown at 46 pounds. I'm super sweet and just want to please you - I'm super smart and I watch and listen really well so I know what my Foster Mom wants me do. I'm a very friendly and social girl and love everyone I meet. I love to play with other pups too! I don't have crazy puppy energy so I walk great on a leash and absolutely love to play in the backyard and go for walks in the neighborhood. You can ask for a video that my Foster Mom took that will show you how nicely and calmly I walk on my leash. I'm such a loving and loyal girl and I'll be the perfect member of my new family. I'm hoping they take me fun places so we can have lots of fun together too! I'm healthy, up to date on all my vaccinations, house-trained and crate trained which makes me even more easy to love. Long Road Home's Adoption Policy
Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes.   What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
