Shawn is a 4-year-old, 60ish-pound Hound mix with a big heart and an even bigger zest for life. A proud graduate of the Coffeewood Canine Training Program, Shawn returned to us with new skills, added confidence, and that classic goofy Hound charm that makes him so easy to love.<br/><br/>Shawn is an active, playful dog who thrives with engagement and routine. He enjoys the outdoors, yard play, walks, and exploring alongside his people, and he brings enthusiasm to everything he does. He’s also happy to slow down and enjoy affection once his needs are met — he truly enjoys being part of the action and part of the family.<br/><br/>During a recent short foster stay, it became clear that Shawn does best with clear boundaries and structure. He is house trained and eager to please, and the training he received through the Coffeewood program has given him a strong foundation to build on. Like many smart dogs, if given too much freedom too quickly, he will test limits, but with consistent expectations and guidance, Shawn settles nicely and shows how responsive and capable he is.<br/><br/>Shawn has been very good with children he has met at the shelter, though he can be an enthusiastic jumper when greeting people. Because of this, he would do best with children who have steady footing and an understanding of respectful dog interactions while he continues to work on polite greetings.<br/><br/>Shawn is dog-friendly and enjoys canine companionship, but his energy level is best matched with a dog that appreciates an active, playful friend.
