Shasta's Story

Shasta was originally found on a busy highway in Amarillo, Texas. It was truly a miracle that she did not get hit by a car, as it was during holiday traffic. After settling into her foster home, it was determined that she was pregnant. She has since been an awesome mom to 9 healthy babies, and she is now ready to come home to the person that she is meant for! Shasta is clever, a bit mischievous, and VERY affectionate once she develops a bond with someone (she loves belly rubs and cuddling!). She loves outdoor activities, especially walks, but afterwards she’s happy to come back inside and sleep next to her person. She’s very independent, and has an almost “cat like” personality. It will take her a little time to warm up to people (it will need to be on her terms as she enjoys having her boundaries respected), but once she feels comfortable, she will be your shadow. Furry Tales Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy

Adopters must be 21+ years old. ALL members of the household must agree on the adoption. We do NOT allow adoptions to be surprises for others. Out of state adoptions are ALLOWED. We currently adopt to homes located in PA, NJ, MD, DE, VA, WV, OH, CT, NH and NY. At this time we do not adopt out to homes who are over ~200-250 miles from Blue Bell, PA 19422, but may make exceptions on a case by case basis. Potential adopters must submit an initial application that will be followed up by a phone interview and home check. We call two personal non-family references that are to be listed on the application. If there are any current pets in the home we will call your veterinarian as well to ensure all pets are up to date on state required vaccines and are spayed/neutered (if applicable). If all goes well we have a detailed adoption contract that must be thoroughly read, completed, and signed by the adopter. Our process tends to move fairly QUICKLY and adoption can be as quick as just a few hours after submitting an application up to a week or more. We do NOT hold pets.
