Shallah - in foster!'s Story
Shallah is a 55-pound fluffy senior dog with striking black and tan fur. He is ready to start his next chapter with a loving family! Shallah has a history of being an adaptable and loyal companion; he previously lived successfully with a teenager, another dog, and two cats. His former owner described him as having "the best temperament around children and cats," and noted he was an emotional support dog who brought comfort and joy to their home.

Shallah is crate trained and sleeps peacefully when left alone. While initially barky when meeting new people, he warms up quickly and appreciates gentle attention. At the shelter, he has shown himself to be generally friendly and tolerant, though he can appear mildly anxious or disengaged at times. He allows petting and even seeks additional attention on occasion—his gentle heart is hard to resist!

Shallah loves fresh foods and has an easygoing appetite. He can be dog selective, so potential adopters are encouraged to bring any resident dogs to meet Shallah to ensure he’s a good fit for the pack! Any adopters interested in Shallah should be aware of his medical history. His previous owner reported a history of periodic seizures, typically triggered by stress. Shallah is currently on an affordable seizure medication (estimated cost of $20-$40 per month) and the results have been good so far! Any potential adopters will need to plan for veterinary follow-ups to monitor and manage this condition if necessary.

Shallah’s kind nature, loyalty, and charm make him a true gem. He’s looking for a calm and understanding home where he can thrive and continue to be the loving companion he was born to be. Could he be the perfect fit for your family?

Shallah is currently in a foster home. If you’d like to visit with this pet to hopefully adopt, please include their name in your email so we can coordinate to have them back at the Shelter!
