Hello there, my name is Shadow. I'm about 10 years-old (maybe more) and a small guy at about 13 lbs. I was surrendered to a shelter in Tennessee after my owner died. When I arrived in the rescue in October the vet realized that I was blind and that my eyes were giving me more trouble and irritation than they were worth. My eyes were removed and I am happier for it! I have probably been without sight for a while because the surgery didn't affect my mobility at all. I'm actually very accomplished at getting around using my other senses. I love sniffing out tomatoes in the garden to nibble and I can even cautiously climb the porch steps. I'm very good at following the sound of your voice too. That being said, I am an old man and won't be running around much anyway. My needs are simple: food, a comfortable bed and blanket, and peace and quiet. My favorite activity is sleeping next to you on the couch. If you want to give me some pets I wouldn't mind that either. I'm generally indifferent to other dogs and cats and will give them no notice in my daily routine, though if they get too close to me on the couch I'll give them a warning growl so they don't sit on me. (Don't worry, humans are welcome to sit next to me anytime.) If there is another dog around I'd prefer a mellow, polite one and not some young, rambunctious pup. I'm friendly meeting new people. I'd be fine living with older kids who are respectful of my needs. I had a dental cleaning and got some teeth removed as a part of my tune up. I can be crated while you are away as long as I have a bed and blanket. While I'm not perfect, I have made surprising progress with my housetraining, in part because I sleep most of the day. I go outside in the yard whenever I'm taken out but sometimes have accidents overnight or if you're gone a full work day. I could be a good candidate for potty pad training, but I also can wear a belly band if needed. I'm ok with being being picked up and carried and I'm good on a leash.
