He's had a rocky start and has been returned twice, but not because he isn't a wonderful dog-he just needs the right fit.<br/><br/>When Shadow first arrived, he was unsure of everyone and everything. With time, patience, and consistency from staff and volunteers, he began to come out of his shell. Now, his tail starts wagging the moment he sees a familiar, friendly face, and he bounces with excitement for walks and playtime.<br/><br/>Shadow is still hesitant around new people and may vocalize when he's unsure. He needs a family who understands that this is his way of expressing discomfort, not aggression. With the right guidance, he warms up beautifully. As he adjusts to a new home, he may regress a little at first, so patience and reassurance will be key.<br/><br/>Because Shadow can become overwhelmed in busy environments, he would do best in a calm, one- or two-person home with low daily chaos. His ideal adopters will have experience with dog training or canine behavior and will be committed to helping him continue building confidence.<br/><br/>Shadow loves to zoom around the yard, chase a ball (returning it is still a work in progress!), and he absolutely melts for neck scratches. On walks, he's a bit of a "vacuum," eager to pick up anything interesting he finds, so continued training on "leave it" will be important.<br/><br/>Shadow is a sweet, sensitive, and playful boy who just needs the right people-those willing to move at his pace, support his progress, and celebrate his wins.
