My name is Shadow and I just turned six years old. Unfortunately I celebrated my birthday with much sadness as I recently lost my person to the heavens above :'( I miss him so much, as we were companions since I was a puppy. But me only being six, I am ready for my next adventure and Compass Dog Rescue is going to help me find a new home! I am currently looked after by family, but this can only be a temporary arrangement because I prefer to be the only pet in the house. Perhaps I could learn to behave around other dogs/cats, but my life so far has just been me and my person. I haven't been socialized with other dogs. I do however get along with all people and kids.<br/><br/>Let me tell you a little bit more about myself. I am a super smart guy who knows lots of commands. I also love fetch and will bring the ball right back to you to throw to me again. I like my toys and I have been camping and boating in the past and enjoyed it very much. I am both house and crate trained, but I don't really need a crate because I am very trustworthy when left in the house alone. I am an affectionate guy who loves belly rubs and will return the gesture with lots of "thank you" kisses.<br/><br/>My ideal new home would be one where I would get lots of love and attention. I would also need to be the only pet in the house. Perhaps not forever - if I find the right family to work with me on my insecurities and acting out when meeting another dog. My new home would also have a fully fenced in yard to keep me safe and allow me to romp, play fetch or frizbee. A home with kids five and up would be best. A family that respects my fear of loud noises (lawn equipment, fireworks) would be awesome.<br/><br/>If you think you might be a good match for me, I would love to hear from you! I will be a very loyal companion to the right person/family. I am in good health, neutered, current on vaccinations, heartworm negative (and on monthly prevention). I am not sure of my exact breed but I appear to be maybe a lab/pit mix.
