Scrappy Doo's Story
Meet Scrappy, one of the Scooby Doo pups!

Background: Velma and her three puppies — Fred, Shaggy, and Scrappy Doo — were found abandoned on Kelly Mountain in Logan County, WV, by a group of hunters, far from any nearby homes. When the hunters stopped, the dogs immediately approached them, friendly and social, which leads us to believe they once had a home and were intentionally left behind.

Thankfully, a Good Samaritan stepped in and took the little family into her home until rescue help could be secured. Because of her compassion and quick action, Velma and her pups are now safe and settling into their local foster homes.

Scrappy is being fostered with his brother, Shaggy, in a busy household with his foster mom and dad, two kids, two adult dogs, and even regular toddler visitors. It’s an ideal socialization environment for a young puppy. As a result, he is a happy, confident, well-adjusted boy who loves to be held and wants to be part of the action.

Scrappy is crate-trained, sleeps through the night without accidents, and is making steady progress with his house manners. He has officially graduated to “big-boy” leash walks and improves every day with practice. Much of Scrappy’s early puppy training has already been done by his fabulous foster mom, Diana, who shared this update:

Scrappy
is slightly more laid-back than his brother with a gentler, more submissive personality. He loves to cuddle and is happiest snuggled up with his people. While he has a medium level of energy, he still enjoys playtime and is doing great with training and learning routines. He would love a pup buddy in his new home and would be great with kids, too.

He is a social, affectionate boy who will make a wonderful family companion.

If you have a puppy-friendly schedule and are looking for a well-started, well-socialized pup...Apply today!

Note: Scrappy is still too young to be neutered, but neutering at the appropriate age is required as part of his adoption terms. Proof of spay/neuter is required for all puppy adopters.

BREED ESTIMATE: Beagle (Mutt Mix)
GENDER: Male
APPROXIMATE WEIGHT: 17 lbs
APPROXIMATE AGE: ~ 16 weeks old (expected to be medium-sized dogs)
COAT TYPE: Medium coat
ADOPTION FEE: $400.00
OTHER INFO: Current on shots, microchipped, not yet neutered.
LOCATION: Vienna, VA

FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application.

You can also help save dogs like this one by becoming a foster, providing a rescue dog with a temporary home and giving them the love and care they need until they are permanently adopted. Every person who fosters is directly responsible for saving the life of a dog, because we can only save as many dogs as we have foster families available to welcome them into their homes. If you think you might be interested in becoming a foster and want to learn more, please go to https://foster.worthydog.org and fill out an application.

Worthy Dog Rescue is an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue that primarily adopts to families in the DC Metro area.
