Scout's Story

Scout is looking for a home where he will get lots of walks, good food, but - most especially - lots of love. He would prefer a home where he is the only dog, but says there could be another dog in the household if he has time to get accustomed to that dog. At about 4 years old and 85lbs, he looks forward to a home that can give him attention, and exercise. Like all German Shepherd Dogs, he prefers to be with his owner all the time, and - if he is left alone for a short while - is super excited to see you again. He is very well behaved, and knows a couple commands. Playing ball with Scout is still a work in progress, because he goes after the ball without a problem, but bringing it back is still a challenge. He has pannus, so needs to have ointment put in his eyes twice a day and sits very nicely while the ointment is applied. Picked up as a stray, when we first took him from the shelter he was having problems with his bowel movements. Now, 3 months later, after being on a high-quality diet, he is almost having regular bowel movements. With him staying on a good diet, the vet thinks he will continue to do well in that area. Adoption fee is $100.
