She’s received her first two sets of vaccines, a microchip, dewormer and has been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. We really don’t know the size she’ll grow to be as we have no information on either parent. The same can be said about the breeds we’ve stated as we just go by what she looks like to us. This poor girl was found quite literally freezing to death along with her brother on a freezing cold night. Frostbite was just starting to set in on her extremities, tail, ears, under her arms and on her tummy. Luckily someone saw the pair freezing in the cold and brought them into their home. We’re pleased to say that she has no ill effects from the frostbite and she’s healed up beautifully.<br/><br/>SAXON’s a super soft little girl both in personality and her lovely coat. She’s the gentlest little soul you could ever imagine and she’s super smart too. She’s definitely the one to take a step back from something new rather than a step forward to investigate. Despite everything she’s been through she still enjoys being outside frolicking in the snow. She enjoys playing with her stuffies, chew on Nyla bones for her teething, throw her rope toys around, basically play with anything that squeaks and chew on her Nyla bone as she’s teething. She loves to hear this being said about her and that is that she’s such a baby and one of the most loveable puppies ever.<br/><br/>SAXON’s excellent in her crate and goes in it at night and sleeps without a peep. She has been up the odd night for a bathroom break but she’ll go right back into it afterwards and go straight back to sleep. She’s not such a fan of it in the daytime though and will bark for a bit when she’s put in it but will eventually lay down and nap in it. House training’s going very well and being the smart little girl that she is, she’ll cry to go outside for a bathroom break. It is still a work in progress though as sometimes she forgets to ask so you need to watch for the signs that she needs to go outside. She’s only just started to go for short walks and like all puppies she’ll excitedly race ahead of you. She’s not food motivated at all and she does like to graze on her kibble. She does the funniest thing with her bowl of kibble and that is she’ll keep pawing at it until it spills all over the floor and then she’ll eat it up right off the floor. She has good manners and will “sit” for her food and treats plus she’ll also take them “gentle.”<br/><br/>SAXON’s ideal family should have some Husky experience as although she’s a very gentle girl right now, the older she gets the more challenging she could become. They should also be a relatively quiet one and an active one that loves the outdoors as we know once she’s a bigger girl she’ll love to be outside and want to be adventurous, go on hikes and long walks on the trails. She does well in a vehicle so will always be up for a drive and especially if it leads to an adventure for her. She’s the only dog in her foster home so if there’s one in her new home they should be gentle and calm just like she is. She has met other dogs in the neighbourhood while on her walks and so far she’s happily greeted them all. It’s recommend that if there’s a dog in her new home then a slow, monitored introduction should be made between them while the resident dog’s kept leashed for the first few initial introductions. She hasn’t met a cat so if there’s one in her new home then she should be kept leashed while introductions are made. She can be an only pet in the home provided she’s not left alone for long periods of time every day. Children should be aged 6yrs and up plus be loving, gentle and kind towards animals. She does require a fenced-in yard so she can be kept safe while she has a run around and play.<br/><br/>SAXON, like all puppies is cute, playful and fun but will also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We do need her adopter to be in agreement to take her for puppy/obedience training to help her to become the best girl possible. Her spay is included in her adoption fee and her potential adopter must be in agreement to have her spayed by the time she’s 6 months of age. The surgery will be at the Barrie SPCA but you can use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. In order for the rescue to do so we need the spay requirements to still be followed plus a copy of the procedure invoice and a picture of her (preferably in her onsie or cone) in order to do the reimbursement.
