Savannah's Story
Savannah is a 3-year-old spayed Chow Chow mix who was surrendered after a new baby joined her family and she began becoming protective of the baby. Savannah is now looking for a new home where she can settle in, feel secure, and be a loved member of the family.

Savannah is a friendly girl who enjoys being around people. She knows sit, loves treats, and takes them gently. She can pull on leash when she sees other dogs or people, but she responds well to redirection.

During her temperament evaluation, Savannah did wonderfully with handling. She remained calm while her paws, ears, tail, mouth, collar, and entire body were handled and had no problem with hugs or close interaction. She also showed no resource guarding with food or valued possessions. Evaluators were able to interact with her food and take items from her without an issue.

Savannah isn't a huge toy fanatic—she'll play for a little while, but she's much more interested in getting loved on by her people!

She also had positive interactions with other dogs. Savannah was excited and playful when meeting a male dog and a little more cautious when meeting a female, but remained friendly with both. She is considered likely dog-friendly, with a slow introduction recommended to make sure everyone is comfortable.

Savannah also did great during her cat evaluation! She politely sniffed our office cat and remained sweet and calm. When the cat gave her a swat, Savannah simply backed away and returned to her handler as if to say, "What? I was being nice!" Her previous family also reported that she was good with cats.

Overall, Savannah is a sweet, people-loving girl who enjoys affection, treats, and being part of the action. She has shown us that she can be friendly with dogs and cats and is very comfortable interacting with people.

Savannah is ready for a fresh start with a family who will give her the love, structure, and companionship she deserves.

Come meet Savannah and see if she could be the perfect addition to your family!
