Saucy's Story

Saucy was a very special girl that was a victim of the pet industry. She was born and served her life as a sex slave lining the pockets of greedy humans who make a nice living off girls just like Saucy. Luckily, we were able to rescue her from this facility (that is not shut down) and she found the perfect daddy...........sadly since this update came in, Little Saucy has crossed the bridge where she will surely wait patiently for her daddy to come join her one day. I believe she will be there waiting just as loyal as ever. Below is a very special Saucy update:

We just celebrated Saucy’s two year birthday back on the 1’st of March! She’s been with us two years now. Let me tell you about my special girl.

She and I are bestest buddies. Where one is, the other will be. And that’s ok. She has a bed by her daddy’s computer desk—and she’s sleeping there now as I type. She also has a bed by her daddy’s side of momma and daddy’s bed. She sleeps there during the night. She doesn’t have a crate as she’s on Lasix twice a day. She couldn’t make it through the night without peeing in the crate so she has free run of the house at nite. I lay down pee pads and sometimes she hits them and sometimes she doesn’t---that’s ok, that’s why God made mops.

I always carry Saucy everywhere, because her feet are too short to reach the ground---at least she thinks so anyway. But that’s ok. Occasionally---well, at least ONCE a day her daddy makes her walk to the backyard with the rest of the pups.

Saucy LOVES the sunshine! She can find a sunny patch in the kitchen quicker than anything. And with her extremely efficient ‘butt attack’ she can back into any pups trying to crowd into her sunshine and bulldoze them right out of the way! When outside she has to be reminded to ‘get busy’ and not just sit in the sun and doze.

Saucy is a regular at the Animal Medical Center in Park Hills. All the staff and Dr Crystal Harding know her by name. She’s on Lasix, Enalapril and Vetmedin twice a day for her congestive heart failure. The good news is that with aggressive treatment her heart disease hasn’t gotten any worse in the past two years. It hasn’t gotten any better, and never will, but it hasn’t gotten any worse and for that we’re thankful! Daddy got in trouble from Dr Crystal because in the past two years Saucy has gone from six pounds to nine pounds. She likes her food. Daddy had to cut back on the Cesar and table scraps!

The past two years have been great for both of us. Saucy is definitely a ‘daddy’s girl’, but that’s ok. She’s started warming up to her momma recently. And she enjoys the company of the rest of the ‘pack’. She’s found her voice---whenever the other pups begin barking at something she will chime right in.

About a year ago I had a job that required me to live in Illinois during the week and come home on the weekends. Saucy lived with me in Illinois and was always happy to see me when I came home every evening. She had a special game where she would run from the living room of our apartment to the bedroom with a rawhide in her mouth. I would stand in the kitchen and talk to her as she made her passes---telling her that that was “MY” rawhide! LOL!

Now her favorite game to play with me is to head butt my pillows and knock them in the floor when I lift her up onto our bed. I’ll tell her that those are ‘MY’ pillows and she’d better not get them. Two seconds later she’s head-butted them into the floor and is rolling on her back where they were!

We just celebrated Saucy’s two year birthday back on the 1’st of March!
