Sassafras's Story

Sassafras is looking for her forever home after her retirement from the UC Davis Veterinary School Teaching Colony Program. She has been a star dog this year and is a staff favorite.

Sassafras is about 2 years old and is spayed, microchipped, and up to date with vaccines/preventatives. She is a petite pittie who LOVES to be hugged and carried around like a baby. She knows the command "hug" and is happy to cuddle. She has several dog friends within colony but would need a proper introduction with an alpha female. She has lived with children before. She walks well on leash. Her Wisdom Panel came back as mostly American Pit Bull Terrier and American Staffordshire Terrier mix. She weights about 40 lbs.

From her assigned enrichment student: "Sassafras is the ultimate package. Her favorite thing in the world is to cuddle up next to you (or on you) and sleep on your bed for hours on end but can also walk or run for miles if you want to. She can get a little too excited to see squirrels and other hyper dogs on walks but has made a lot of progress and can be corrected easily! Sassafras is extremely food motivated and highly trainable. She gets along great with cats and other dogs who are patient enough to let her warmup to them. Sassafras would do well with an owner who has time to continue working on her training and would love a 40 pound lap dog."
