Saskia

Saskia is a calm, thoughtful, very centered dog who's hoping for a fresh start with someone who will match her gentle energy. She was surrendered because her owner had some medical issues and was moving. <br/><br/>At almost 2 (born in early 2024), she has tested well with other dogs and would likely be most comfortable in an adult home with an easygoing, steady routine. She loves walks and equally enjoys a nice cuddle. <br/><br/>Recently, Saskia was thrilled to get the chance to go on a day-trip with only of our volunteers. She had a blast, and her hiking buddy, Shreya, shared her observations about what Saskia is like when the shelter is (finally!) in her rearview mirror:<br/><br/>"Car ride: she is not the biggest fan of car rides. She didn't know how to jump into car and when i tried to pick her up she was going for my hand. So that was a task.. and she was anxious the whole drive But she didn't bark or howl or anything. I think she hasn't been in car before and maybe it was all new but I'm sure she can be trained. <br/><br/>Walk: she NEVER pulls!! She is a perfect walk/hike dog. She stops when i stop event on stairs. She understands 'no' and backs up if you tell her.<br/> <br/><br/>People/Dog Interaction: she was initially lil timid by so many people and being petted but then she warmed up. She is shy to strangers and prefers slow approach to be petted otherwise she gets scared. She is really friendly with other dogs. She sniffed 2-3 dogs and no issues there. She is not the most excited dog seeing other dogs or humans but she is very curious!<br/><br/>Overall she was AMAZING yesterday! Every time i kissed her she gave kisses back!! And whenever i sat she'd put her head between my legs! She is adorable and a perfect companion and would give you a lot of attention."<br/><br/>Saskia would be a great companion for someone who is open and curious like her.
