Sargent's Story
This handsome guy walks nicely on a leash, is crate trained, and can be a little timid at first. Sargent is a good boy who just needs some time, patience, and TLC to feel comfortable in a new environment. Sargent gets along with cats and dogs, though he doesn't really know how to play quite yet. Because he can be nervous in new situations and be a flight risk, he will do best with a responsible adopter who is mindful about doors, leashes, and secure spaces while he settles in and builds confidence.

UPDATE from Sargent's foster mom: "It's taken a little while for him to get out of his shell. He still is not a fan of loud noises. He loves to cuddle. He prefers to be a lap dog and to sleep in bed. He understands time to go potty and he goes to the door to wait for his leash to be clipped on. He also understands when it's time to go in the kennel. He goes right in and lays down and is a good boy. He doesn't mind our cats, our dog or the guinea pig. He's scared of new people so it just takes time for him to warm up and then he'll be your best friend for life."

Sargent is one year old and weighs 27 pounds.

Location: Foster home

The adoption fee for adult dogs, seven months and older, is $250. All pets are microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and will be altered prior to adoption. If you are interested in meeting a dog, please stop by the shelter during open hours. Dogs may be in a foster home, therefore scheduling an appointment is recommended. If you have an existing dog at home, we recommend bringing it along to meet your possible new family member.
helpingstrays.org
