Sarah's Story
Meet Sarah
Sarah is a gentle, sensitive doodle who is very much a work in progress—and also very ready for the right home.
Breed: Doodle
Age: ~2 years
Sex: Spayed
Size: ~25 kg
In care since: December 8
Sarah is a thoughtful, observant girl who needs time to feel safe with new people. She may growl when unsure, but she has not shown any aggressive behaviour, including around children. Once she settles, her true personality shines through—sweet, people-oriented, and deeply affectionate in her own quiet way. She thrives on routine and adapts to it quickly.
House training is coming along well. Sarah will ask to go outside, though she still needs encouragement and often prefers you to stand outside with her. She will use a large, washable pee pad in emergencies (disposable ones tend to get shredded). She is food-motivated and will counter surf, so structure and management are important.
Sarah enjoys stuffed animal toys and large edible chews, especially in the evenings. She’s intelligent, very sensitive, and clearly wants to be near her people—but she’s not a bedroom dog. She prefers sleeping in a central area on the main floor where she can keep an eye on things.
Her energy levels are moderate. She can be bouncy and excitable in the mornings and around dinner time, but for the most part she will happily match your pace.
Other animals & kids:
-Has done well with dogs of all sizes
-Cats are unknown
=Best suited to a home with older children

Training & skills:
-House training: still a work in progress but improving
-Crate training: unknown
-Leash training: learning; will need time to build stamina and muscle strength

Ideal home:
Sarah will do best in a calm, structured home with:
-A large main floor living space
-A secure, fenced yard (required)
-Someone home most of the day
-Commitment to training and consistent routines
-Experience with large dogs and confidence doing the work to help her feel safe
-Another dog might be a good match, but her people will always be her priority—she would happily trade dog play for ear scratches and attention.
Sarah’s quirks:
When she’s happy, Sarah snaps her jaws and does joyful little bounces—especially in the mornings. It’s impossible not to smile when she’s feeling good.
Sarah isn’t for everyone—but for the right person, she will be deeply rewarding. She’s learning how to be a dog in a safe world, and she’s ready for someone willing to walk that path with her.

What’s included in your adoption fee?
At Myrtle Animal Rescue & Sanctuary, we’re committed to ethical rescue and lifelong support.
