Sarah's Story

Meet Sarah, a 10-month-old English Pointer with a heart full of love and a whole lot of catching up to do.

Recently spayed, dewormed, and vaccinated, Sarah has settled quickly into her foster home and bonded deeply with her people. She wants to be close by no matter what you're doing, whether that's working around the house, relaxing on the couch, or heading outside. She absolutely loves being part of the action.

Sarah plays well with other dogs and enjoys a good chew toy or bone. She's crate trained and potty trained using a dog door. After spending much of her young life tied out and often hungry, food is still very exciting for her. She's using a slow-feeder bowl and is still working on gaining some much-needed weight.

When Sarah first came to us, she also had a severe sunburn, likely from prolonged exposure without adequate shade. Thankfully, with proper care and plenty of TLC, she's healing beautifully.

When the day winds down, Sarah's favorite place is snuggled up beside you on the couch. She would thrive in a home with someone who is around much of the time, because she has a lot of love to give and wants nothing more than to share it.

Because she's so devoted to her people, Sarah will need a securely fenced yard. She has a tendency to try to follow you when you leave and is happiest knowing her family is close.

If you'd like to meet this sweet girl and see if she's the missing piece of your family, please fill out an adoption application at bestfriendsofbaker.org. Sarah is ready to leave her difficult past behind and start the life she's always deserved. She has already shown that, despite everything she's been through, her first instinct is still to trust, love, and be near the people who care for her.

Best Friends of Baker Inc.'s Adoption Policy
FAQ: "is Fluffy available for adoption?" Please assume that if an animal is listed as 'adoptable' on our Petfinder page we are still accepting applications for that pet. We do our best to keep the page up to date. We are not able to respond to emails asking if animals are available. "is Fluffy good with dogs/older cats/male cats/children/vacuums?" Each animal is different, and our profiles try to address these questions. If you do not find your answer in the pet's profile, please submit an application and a volunteer will be happy to speak with you about a particular animal. "what is the adoption process?" You submit an application at: | https://www.bestfriendsofbaker.org/adopt and then the applications for that animal are are reviewed. References are then checked. The chosen adopter will be contacted (usually by phone) and a meet-and-greet and or home visit is arranged to determine if the adoption will be finalized. If the person passes on the pet, we will contact the next applicant in line. "how much does it cost?" Kitten adoption fees are $125 if the kitten has been spayed, $90 if neutered, $100 if it has not yet been S/N (includes a $50 spay or neuter voucher). Adult cats are $25. Dog adoptions range from $100 to $500 depending on age, vet care, etc. All adoption donations are tax-deductible and donations above these amounts are always appreciated. Every cent received from adoption fees goes toward helping more animals in need. "what veterinary care has Fluffy received?" Kittens are wormed and given first shots. The adoption packet includes a voucher for a low-cost spay or neuter if the kitten has not yet been spayed or neutered. Older cats are generally spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Dogs are wormed, vaccinated and spayed or neutered if appropriate age. Thank you for your interest in adopting a rescue pet.
